My approach

A CRM should not be treated as an admin system. It should be treated as a commercial decision-making system.

Its value is simple: clear ownership, clear follow-up steps, useful reminders and better visibility of what is happening across the pipeline. When set up properly, a CRM should help the team understand which prospects matter, what happened last, what needs to happen next and where senior time should be focused.

My approach is to make the system reflect how the business actually sells. That means keeping the CRM intuitive, removing unnecessary complexity and building a process that people can realistically maintain. Over time, good CRM discipline creates cleaner contact lists, stronger proof of commercial activity, better reporting and a more useful business asset.

Case Study: CRM implementation for Gadalytics+

Growth need: RevOps, Pipeline Conversion, Outbound

The challenge

Data consultancy Gadalytics needed a clearer system for managing new business conversations and follow-up.

New business activity was being managed across spreadsheets, Trello boards, buried emails, notebooks and LinkedIn messages. This made it difficult to see where conversations had been left, which prospects needed attention, and when follow-up should happen.

The aim was to create a more organised CRM process that could capture historic conversations, make current opportunities easier to prioritise, and help founder Sara manage new business around client delivery.

My role

I reviewed historic data and pulled together important conversations, prospects and leads from different sources.

I then implemented Pipedrive as the CRM, creating a pipeline view that reflected how Sara needed to manage new business conversations. This gave her a clearer way to prioritise opportunities, track where each prospect was in the process, and plan follow-up around existing client work.

I also set up Surfe so leads and conversations from LinkedIn could be pushed into Pipedrive more easily. To make the database more useful, I created clear labels and contact segments for retargeting and nurture activity.

Results

The work moved Gadalytics away from fragmented spreadsheets, Trello boards and inbox-based tracking into a clearer CRM-led process.

Sara gained a more reliable view of her prospects, historic conversations, follow-up requirements and priority opportunities. The CRM also created a stronger foundation for future outbound, nurture and pipeline conversion activity.

“Working with Chris helped make our new business activity feel much more manageable.

Beforehand, there were lots of useful conversations and contacts, but they were difficult to keep on top of because everything lived in different places. Chris brought a calm, methodical approach and helped turn that into a system I could actually use.

The biggest difference is clarity. I now have a much better view of who I should be speaking to, what needs following up, and how to prioritise new business around client work.”Sara, Founder, Gadalytics
